Those of you who have not been to Summers Past Farms are in
for quite a treat. Located in Flinn Springs within the foothills
of San Diego County, this middle of nowhere garden farm is worth
the travel. Summers Past offers a simple retreat from the stress
of daily life in the city. Take a stroll through the lavender
field, experience the amazing colors and scents of the blooming
foliage, rest on a garden bench and have a cup of coffee, or
simply enjoy the entertainment provided by the several pets
that call the farm home.
In this trip to the Farm, you will truly be amazed at how quickly
one can travel from the sea to the country and still remain
in San Diego County. Just an hour from the coast, Summers Past
Farms feels more like it is miles from suburbia. It is an amazing
retreat from the bustle of the city and a change of pace for
the usual beach comber.
Summers Past is essentially a gardeners dream. Equipped with
everlasting flower fields, fragrant floral display gardens and
herb lined pathways, the atmosphere alone will bring out the
green thumb in every visitor. One can select their own potted
herbs from the greenhouse outside or continue their purchases
within the post and timber barn that offers a unique array of
gifts.
Summers Past also houses the only known Soap Factory in San
Diego. The Soap Shoppe is filled to the brim with skin care
products from around the world. The Shoppe makes the finest
all-vegetable based herbal soaps that do wonders for the skin
and the senses. My personal favorite is Lemon Grass Soap which
changes your shower into an aroma therapy adventure. Just some
of the seven options include Nourishing Oatmeal, Peppermint
and pure lavender.
My advice is to pack a picnic and spend a Sunday afternoon at
the farm. It is an ultra romantic get away for any couple, as
well as a family friendly destination. Enjoy the sights and
sounds of the San Diego country side, and finally take some
time to stop and smell the flowers.
