Melons: Where Everybody Knows Your Name
Article written by Kristel

While most PB partiers migrate toward the larger bars and clubs
on Garnet, some may be interested in settling into the comfortable
atmosphere within Blind Melons. Literally the last bar on the
strip, Blind Melons is easily overlooked. Sandwiched between
Kono’s (quite possibly the best breakfast place in Pacific
Beach) and a quaint Mexican food joint, Blind Melons is a step
away from the bustle but far from the chaos.
Regulars at Blind Melons are not interested in flash, but more
so in having a good time. The atmosphere is extremely laid back,
the way some say a bar should be. Each week there are specials
to get you out of your house and onto a bar stool. Open Mic
Tuesdays, battle of the bands, and Jagermeister Night are just
a few reasons to change a work night into a late night. Local
bands frequent the Blind Mellon’s stage regularly, including
Shaggin Waggin, which won the San Diego Music Awards a few years
back. You never know, but at Blind Melons you may be rubbing
elbows with some of San Diego’s famous locals. With plenty
of seating room, a full bar, and a pool table, Blind Melons
is one of the few places in Pacific Beach where it feels like
your very own neighborhood bar.
