The Ould Sod in North Park boasts being the best place in San
Diego to get a glass of Guinness. In fact its slogan is: "For
Guinness, Inquire within". The Ould Sod is also unofficially
the best Irish Pub in San Diego. Its small, its dark, it practically
bleeds green. The atmosphere is always bustling and it is often
hard to find a seat at the bar, but if you are willing to mingle
with other locals and take in the Irish aura, you simply can’t
have a bad time.
The Sod regularly has musical artists perched in the front of
the pub supplying sometimes traditional, sometimes non-traditional,
sounds. A crowd favorite is the Hatchet Brothers, an acoustic
guitar wielding trio, who graces the Sod the last Wednesday
of each month. The Sod also has Karaoke Saturdays and 7 o’clock
Irish sessions on Tuesdays, where the crowd is encouraged to
bring an instrument and play along! The Ould Sod is also proud
to announce that they now have wireless internet. Leave work
early and have a pint while you check your email! That definitely
sounds like a great way to wrap up a day at the office.
If you enjoy good dark beer, rustic and tucked away locations,
and a bar that brings out the young and old, you must check
out the Ould Sod. Jig yourself down to 3373 Adams Avenue in
the heart of the city, and celebrate a bar that makes every
day feel like St. Patrick’s Day.
