A drink in the sun.

The Sunshine Company's laid back, casual style is what Ocean
Beach is all about. Beach stragglers and sun lovers come to
this two-story sportsbar to hang out, watch a game and catch
some rays. The sunroof top allows for lots of sunshine, yet
the bar also maintains shaded, cool areas too. Smokers will
also be happy to know that they can have a cig while they have
a drink. Though this shouldn't deter non smokers, as there is
plenty of room and ventilation for them as well. No matter what
your style, you'll find a nook to settle into.
The drink specials are good, but the food can only be described
as okay. Although, it should be noted that the food is made
by Livingston's Chicken Kitchen and Mexican Grill, not The Sunshine
Co.. I had the chiles rellenos, my friend the enchiladas, and
they were both bland and plain. It did, however, taste much
better after happy hour, which runs DAILY from 5PM 6PM and includes
half price pitchers. I'd also recommend their Bloody Mary, which
has a zesty kind of spice to it.
As if the company of your friends wasn't enough, you're also
given a few options for entertainment. There are two pool tables
at the back of the bar, along with an old arcade game. You'll
also find the jukebox back there. The televisions you'll find
downstairs as well, right when you walk in, showing a couple
of baseball games. Or, you might just want to lounge around
while you have a drink. The second floor is equipped with its
own bar and bathroom, so you don't have to keep walking down
to the first floor.
So if you're looking for a refuge from the crowded beach, step
into The Sunshine Company for a drink. The environment is casual
and friendly, no need to dress up, and it's perfect after a
day at the beach. Relax and have a drink!
