The quest for good pizza continues… and pauses as I have
stumbled on Leucadia Pizzeria. While driving through the treacherous
yet well-lit streets of Encinitas searching for a place to whet
the ol’ whistle and food that goes with it I saw a building
that had a familiar name. I have heard nothing but good things
about this place so I decided to stop in and see what the fuss
was all about.
Surprisingly I did not have to wait long to be seated which
is good because I quickly grow impatient which leads to the
gamma radiation that pollutes my body to start coursing through
my veins transforming me into a horrible destructive beast…but
that’s a story for another time. The staff was courteous
which cannot be said for many of the customers of this establishment.
I ordered angel hair pasta with meat sauce as well as a pepperoni
pizza paying no regard to the mortal sin of gluttony. The feast
included some extremely delicious garlic bread that was quickly
devoured. The pasta arrived and I began to gorge. I was slightly
disappointed by the thinness of the sauce but it was tasty nonetheless.
The pizza triumphantly arrived shortly after and let me tell
you, it made up for any previous disappointment. I detected
a hint of sugar in the delicious sauce which delighted the inner
child in me. The crust complimented the sauce and the cheese
perfectly. And now that you’ve read this far I can really
be honest with you and say that the other half of the pizza
was their barbecue chicken flavor. I have always been skeptical
of barbecue sauce on a pizza but Leucadia’s recipe calmed
my fears. The sauce was sweet and spicy like a barbecue sauce
should be and the chicken was delicious.
For those of us who demand a good beer with our pizza rest assured
that Leucadia offers a fine selection of beers as well as other
drinks at their bar. Obviously on a Friday night the bar was
the most popular place at this restaurant. Whether it was because
of the fast service or the fact that the bartender was an attractive
blonde I’ll leave the judgment up to you.
I tried desperately to come up with a smartass comment to say
about this place but I sadly drew a blank. Whether you’re
here with your family or here to drown your sorrows in a pint
of brew you will not be disappointed.
Hey, Mario, how ‘bout some W’s over here,
eh?
