The
Village Grille
Article
written by Michelle Valenti
Converted from an old La Jolla house into a quaint and classy
restaurant, The Village Grille has the feel of eating gourmet
food at home. The indoor seating is limited to only a few tables,
which helps maintain the comfortable feel of a family dining
room. The larger of two front porches is enclosed and three
tables sit near the wood paned windows overlooking Kline Street.
The candle lit tables inside create a soft and inviting ambiance
while the side patio offers more seating room in a peaceful
garden setting. The
Village Grille is open for Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday,
Lunch on Tuesdays through Sundays and Dinner from Wednesday
through Saturday. Lunches are between eight and ten dollars
and cover everything from burgers and salads to fish tacos
and pasta.
The dinner menu includes a wide selection of traditional items
dressed up in fancy new clothes. The Tempura Calamari with
micro cilantro, sweet chili sauce and house aioli dances in
the mouth and The Blackened Ahi Tuna with stir fried rice,
Asian vegetables and coconut red curry sauce is rich with
a flavor that will make your taste buds sing. The Warm Prosciutto
Wrapped Prawn Salad looks good, even to a vegetarian and The
Baked Brie Macaroni jumps off the menu, begging to be tasted.
For
the family oriented, there is a kid’s section on the
lunch menu, for the beach bums who need a break from the sand,
there is a sun soaked patio and for the romantics, there is
a full wine menu. If you prefer to bring your own bottle,
there is a $15 corkage fee.
The
Village Grille is located at 830 Kline Street in
La Jolla.
