Sushi Loha, Sushi That Moves You
Article written by Kristel

Tucked into the often overlooked strip mall on El Cajon Blvd,
Sushi Loha is only recognized by the florescent blue sign hanging
in the window. The outside atmosphere is very still, very quiet.
I had a feeling it could be the calm before the storm. The storm,
in fact, hits when you open the door. "Nihong!" The
small waitresses at Sushi Loha will greet you with a smile and
a boisterous hello. The atmosphere within is absolutely bustling
and I begin to wonder if everyone inside has had maybe one too
many sake bombs. The seating inside is cramped but lively.
Sushi Loha sets itself apart from all other sushi restaurants
by bringing it up a notch. Some of today’s hottest rap
and R&B singles are blaring over the speaker system. Just
about everyone inside is moving a little to the beat while they
enjoy their Japanese dishes. Sushi Loha is a great place for
convening with friends because the atmosphere inside exudes
a good time. Though at times you may have to raise your voice
over the music, Sushi Loha would also be a great place to break
the tension of a first date.
The menu prices are relatively normal for a Japanese cuisine,
boasting both sushi and rolls to choose from. My personal favorite
was the vegetable tempura which was a mouth watering delight.
For those looking to expand both their palate and their overall
experience, try the infamous Oyster shot at the bar. The shot
includes a fresh raw Oyster served in a shot glass with spicy
Sake sauce and minced Scallions. If you can handle that you
will likely get a cheer from the bar tender, and the owner may
come out to share the next drink with you. Tokyo Sushi Loha
puts fun back into food eating. Not only is the food delicious,
but it is one place where you can dance your way right through
the door!
